We are fortunate to have some of the best coaches in New England. The average tenure with TBA is five years. Our coaches put the player’s best interest first. They help them to build up their confidence to become a complete player on and off the field.

Cary McConnell / Co-owner /Coach 12U Baseball 2025, 17U Baseball 2025

With over 30 years of coaching experience, Coach Cary brings his hitting, fielding, baseball knowledge, and humor everyday. A former head coach for over 25 years, with over 500 wins, he offers the finest skill development for players both on and off the field. As one of the founders of Team Boston and Team Boston Academy, Cary has limited availability for private lessons in the evenings.

Jeff Mejia / Co-owner /Coach 17U Baseball 2025

Coach Jeff is one of our founding partners and is also an Assistant Athletic Director and Head Baseball Coach at Northern Essex C.C. Jeff has been coaching baseball for over 25 years.  Coach Mejia has been named the New England Regional Coach of the Year 8 times. The N.E.C.C. program has won 8 NJCAA Regional Championships and has made 7 trips to the NJCAA College World Series. Mejia holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Salem State College in Sports Fitness and Leisure Studies, with a concentration in Coaching. He also served in the United States Army and served in Operation Desert Storm.

Jeffrey Mejia / Facility Manager / Instructor

Jeffrey a former Team Boston player and North Reading High 4 year varsity standout. Jeffrey went on to star at University of Maine.  During his career he held a .409 on base percentage and in 98 games had 98 hits.  During the summer of 2020 he played for the Leesburg Storm in the Florida Collegiate Baseball League.  Jeffrey had a .451 BA and .554 OBP(both league single season records) and was named to the All-Florida League team.

Pat Ruotolo / Pitching Instructor

Pat is a Peabody native who was a standout pitcher at Peabody High school. After his time at Peabody High, Pat went on to pitch at the University of Connecticut. During his three seasons with UConn, Pat was an American Athletic Conference Second Team member and a NEIBA All-New England First Team member with an impressive career ERA of 2.62 in 120.1 innings. after his third season with UConn Pat was selected in the 2016 MLB Draft by the San Fransisco Giants and has played seven seasons in the minor leagues.

Pat is available for private pitching lessons and will be running all of the pitching clinics this winter.

Ryan McAuliffe / Pitching Instructor

Ryan is a former Team Boston player and North Reading High standout.  After high school he went on to play for Northern Essex Community College for two years. During his time at NECC he helped lead his team to back to back NJCAA World Series appearances and was a first team All-American his sophomore year.  After NECC, Ryan went on to play at NCAA division I school St. John’s University.  During his two seasons at St. John’s Ryan earned himself a spot as a starting pitcher and had a career 3.54 ERA with 112 innings pitched.  After his senior season Ryan signed a professional Contract with the New York Mets and played for two years in their minor league system.

Ryan will be running the Team Boston throwing and pitching skills practices and is available for private pitching lessons.

Kathy McConnell / Director of Operations

Kathy McConnell

As Director of Team Boston Academy operations, Kathy oversees all communications to players, parents, and facility rentals. A hockey and baseball mom for over 20 years, Kathy McConnell can answer your questions or point you in the right direction. She also oversees clinic and lesson packages, team player payments, and facility rentals. You can email her directly if you have any questions.

Jared Evans / South Baseball Director /Coach 14U South Baseball 2024

Jared provides private and group instruction for over 15 years and is known for his endless attention to detail and understanding of biomechanics. Coach Jared spent 3 seasons as an Area Scout with the New York Mets.  Jared is available for Hitting and fielding lessons in our southern region. Jared is the Director of Team Boston South.

Tyler MacGregor / Hitting Instructor

Tyler is a former Team Boston player and St. John’s Prep standout.  He started out his college career playing in the Ivy League at Columbia University.  In his time at Columbia Tyler batted .329 with 41 RBIs and 43 runs scored in 56 games played.  After Graduating from Columbia Tyler decided to attend Northeastern University to finish his baseball career.  Last season Tyler slashed an impressive .332/.416/.678 (AVG/OBP/SLG) for the Huskies and earned himself All-CAA  Second Team honors.  During the summer 2023 season Tyler played for the Falmouth Commodores in the Cape Cod Baseball League where he slashed .318/.423/.430 in 130 plate appearances.

Tyler will be offering private baseball lessons this fall and winter before he returns to Northeastern to play his final season of college baseball.

Ryan Turenne / Hitting and Catching Instructor/ 13U Baseball Coach

Ryan is a former Team Boston player and St. Mary’s Lynn and Bridgton Academy standout and played college baseball at the Division I level for the University of Maine Black Bears.  In his time with the Black Bears Ryan Was a five year starter as a catcher and helped lead his team to an America East Conference championship and to a NCAA tournament appearance his senior year.  After his time with the Black Bears Ryan went on to make his professional baseball debut for the Salem Senators in the Mavericks Independent Baseball League during the 2023 season. In his time with the Senators Ryan slashed an impressive .410/.416/.615 (AVG/OBP/SLG) earning himself a Silver Slugger award.  

Ryan will be available for both catching and hitting lessons and will be joining the Team Boston 13u Rams as an assistant coach.

Carrigan Fain / Softball Instructor

Carrigan Fain is coming to Team Boston Academy with experience playing at the highest travel ball level and Division 1 collegiate level. Carrigan was a catcher and 1St baseman at the University of Alabama from 2015-2018, making it to the Women’s College World Series twice during her time at Alabama. After graduating, Carrigan moved to Malaysia where she coached different sports and organized softball clinics with a local team. She is coming to TBA with a passion for growing the sport of softball, instilling confidence in young athletes, and having fun along the way. Carrigan is available for hitting, fielding, catching, and throwing lessons.

Clint Fontanella / Coach 12U Baseball 2023

Clint is a former college baseball player and has been coaching at Team Boston since 2016. He and his brother Austin, along with Coach James, have managed the 11u, 12u, and 13u programs over the past few years. Clint and his staff manage with a player development philosophy and strive to give players the tools needed to play at the high school and collegiate levels. Clint’s favorite part about coaching is watching players gradually grasp the nuances of the game as well as embracing the lighthearted “teaching moments” that occur when they fall a little short.

Mike McCarthy / Coach 12U Baseball 2023

Coach McCarthy started his coaching career with our previous program, the Boston Jr Rams. His accolades include the 9u D2 runner up, and in 2022, he coached his 10u team to the Silver Bracket Champions. He also coached in the Perfect Game New England Super Regional and made it as a semi finalist. Coach Mike’s favorite thing about coaching is winning and seeing the progress kids make from where they start to how it ends.

Jenny Lee / Instructor, Coach U14 Softball 2023

Coach Jenny brings not only a wealth of Softball knowledge to her players, but also a passion for loving the game, being a great teammate, and always having fun. She was awarded the Boston Globe & Herald All-Scholastic in both softball and indoor track. She was the All-State Shot Put Champion 2015 & D2 State Champion 2014 & 2015. She led the state in batting average, home runs, and RBI’s as a senior (.681/12/43). She was the Middlesex Liberty Division MVP 2014 & 2015 and the MIAA Student-Athlete of the month April 2015. If that wasn’t enough, Jenny went on to UMASS Lowell and was a 2 sport Div. 1 athlete. Jenny played outfield for the Riverhawks, and excelled once again gaining a starting position as a walk-on athlete. Jenny has over 5 years of coaching at the 10-14u level and her players adore her. She is available for hitting, fielding, and throwing lessons in the late afternoons and evenings during the school year and Monday-Thursday during the days/early evenings during the summer.

Marisa Carrasco / Instructor, Coach U14 Softball 2023

Coach Marisa, originally from Arizona, was a standout catcher for the Div. 1 UMASS Lowell Riverhawks from 2015-2019. She has coached travel ball since 2016, was a D-bat clinic coach, and personal instructor for hitting, fielding, and catching in both 2017 and 2018. She is amazing at communicating with her players, always calm and can break down every skill/drill in a way that every athlete can understand. She is passionate about an athlete’s mental performance and is dedicated to driving positivity and belief in all her players. Coach Marisa is available for hitting, fielding, throwing and catching lessons in the late afternoon and evenings. 

Courtney Davis / Instructor, Coach U14 Softball 2023

Coach Courtney has over 10 years of experience coaching at the 10-16u level., spending time as the assistant coach at Wakefield high. She graduated from Woburn High, excelling in both Hockey and Softball. She was MVP of the league in 2013 and 2014, all scholastic in 2014. She went on to play hockey and softball at the University of Southern Maine, named rookie of the year in 2015 and NFCA third team all region her freshman, junior and senior year. Coach Courtney loves working with players to not only teach them softball skills, but to help them gain confidence and believe in themselves. Courtney is available for hitting, fielding, and catching lessons.
